Sin Star Clothing is a relatively new brand which is causing quite a stir in the world of fashion for its rock n’ roll attitude towards men’s clothing. With the release of the new Spring/Summer 12 we were delighted when the founders Ryan and Sam agreed to give us the inside scoop on their new range.
Where did the inspiration come from for the new SS12 men’s collection?
The new Escape collection is really a reflection of the night before and the morning after. Having come from a background where we experience so much of the amazing attributes of being in a band and the mayhem that comes with it we wanted to make sure we included strong, vibrant coloured graphics on muted base colours to add real contrast to the finished garments and staying true to our roots. The faith collection which follows has some more relaxed prints which fits in with the chilled vibe of summer. A continued theme but with some more subtle tones that are easier on the eye. Moving into the acid collection for festivals which is a real eye opener and their to shock in colour and contrast!
Does the new collection follow any trends?
Not really in all honestly we don’t follow trends. Fashion moves so fast these days that it’s hard to keep up with and compete with the pace of the high street so we just stick to designing what we like and what we think is going to be cool and it seems to be working. We might hear about trends coming in and we do try to work with the times but fortunately we kinda of have a knack for feeling the industry and the way things are moving and it’s really important we are into what we are designing so it stays interesting.
Is there one stand-out piece in the new men’s range?
I think their are certain prints in the new collection that stand out but it’s important that it all works as a collective of designs. The new chinos are banging though!!!
Does the new collection hold any surprises from previous seasons?
We aren’t ones to look back! We may bring back some classic prints in the future but for now we want to keep it fresh!!! Peace!!
